The Investigation of the Works by Bernt Notke

The high altar retable of the Holy Spirit, Tallinn is an outstanding artwork of international importance. It was made in 1483 in the workshop of the renowned master Bernt Notke in the Northern German town of Lübeck. The aim of the project is to gain new knowledge through thorough and innovative studies of the materials and techniques used at the creation of the artwork as well as its later alterations, and to compare it to other works attributed to the workshop of Notke. At the same time the unfinished conservation works of different times will be completed.
